Even though there are trends varying from appliances to aesthetics, there are plenty of on-trend looks and smart appliances from which to choose. However, before you begin your research, ask this question:  What is your goal?  Is this your dream kitchen or are you looking for resale value?  Whatever your choice, make sure you choose features that will be best long-term.

2019 Hottest Kitchen Trends

Modern and minimal:  an all-white kitchen trend has been going strong for the past decade.  However, designers are starting to gear towards color.  Specifically, colors that pop, two-tone, or contrast colors. If you have a white or gray kitchen, you can still add a pop of color with fixtures, accents or even painting an accent wall. A fun backsplash can add drama or pizzazz to any kitchen.  2019 kitchen color trends:  natural colors, navy, copper orange, brown, gray, and black.

Welcome to the dark side:  when looking at finishes, hardware and appliances – enter matte black.  Complemented with a glossed countertop or glazed backsplash, the matt finish adds a contemporary twist.

Show a little drama:  asymmetrical kitchen lighting has started gaining popularity. Designers are creating drama by redirecting the eye with an asymmetrical pendant, or to create a mini vignette, or highlight a favorite area or object in the kitchen.

Smart kitchen ideas: as technological advances continue to enhance our lives, they have also entered our homes, our kitchens, from touch controls, remote light controls, smart cooking features to screen-display appliances, there are plenty of ways to make your kitchen “smarter.”

As you start your design research, take into consideration that most homeowners frequently entertain and cook in their kitchens, think about upgrading the kitchen appliances and allow extra prep and storage spaces. Also, think of ways you can open up and reconfigure your kitchen. Perhaps removing a wall that separates your kitchen from dining room?
